Job Summary

Lead with confidence as a Head Lifeguard at The Aquatics Center! In this vital role, you'll ensure the safety of patrons while assisting the Pool Manager with facility operations. As a key leader, you'll oversee aquatic activities, enforce pool rules, and maintain water quality—all while providing top-notch customer service. Essential Job Functions
  1. Provide service to the general public by monitoring water activities, ensuring safety, providing first aid, informing customers of upcoming events, and answering inquiries.
  2. Enforce pool rules and regulations, check pool chemicals, monitor safety issues, and report unresolved issues to the Aquatic Supervisor. Assist staff and the public as needed.
  3. Prepare facilities for special events by setting up tables, chairs, and decorations.
  4. Follow all opening and closing procedures and ensure staff complete all tasks.
  5. Oversee operations in the absence of a Pool Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: High School diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • Experience: Two years of lifeguard experience preferred.
  • Certifications: American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications required. Training will be provided upon hire.
Benefits

For city employees who are regular part-time (10-19 hours per week) or seasonal hired and placed on City payroll, benefits include:

  • PARS - Public Agency Retirement System: Employees contribute 6.2% per paycheck; the city contributes 1.3%. Employees do not pay into Social Security. Contributions are withdrawable upon separation.
  • Part-time or seasonal employees are not eligible for paid leave or other benefits.
  • Work limited to 1,000 hours per 12 months unless project-based for a shorter period.
