Job summary

City of Garden City, KS seeks a Grounds Maintenance position to care for lawns, flower beds, shrubs and trees. You will assist with equipment and facility maintenance and support irrigation systems across department grounds.

Responsibilities include mowing and planting, routine repairs on mowers and tools, sprinkler maintenance, trash removal and adherence to safety policies. Valid Kansas driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of plants, shrubs, trees, grasses used in turf management.
• Knowledge of irrigation system operations.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physical outdoor work.
• Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Mow, trim, mulch, seed, weed, plant, spray and fertilize plants, grass, flowers and shrubs; recommend plantings.
• Perform routine service and minor repairs on mechanical equipment (mowers, tools, small electrical equipment).
• Install, repair and maintain sprinkler systems for department grounds.
• Monitor and clean trash and rubbish from grounds.
• Work safely per city procedures; perform other related duties as directed.
