Job summary

Prentiss & Carlisle, a leading forest management firm, is seeking a Temporary Forest Technician to support inventory work and regeneration plots across Maine. The role involves extensive travel with multi-day stays and data delivery to the Bangor office, with lodging and meals when working away from Bangor.

Candidates must be comfortable in remote locations, pass a pre-employment physical, and work a minimum of 45 hours per week. Duration is approximately mid-May to late August 2027; EOE.

Qualifications

• Map and compass skills required.
• Forest inventory tools experience preferred.
• Pacing and cruising methods knowledge.
• Familiarity with variable- and fixed-radius cruising.
• Proficiency with GPS data collection and data management.
• Ability to operate data collectors and GPS units.
• Comfort working in remote locations with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform variable-radius inventory work and regeneration plots.
• Extensive travel within Maine with multi-day stays.
• Plan daily work and manage inventory data delivery to Bangor office.
• Assist foresters with harvest layout and boundary line renewal.
