Job summary

Auburn University College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment seeks a Seasonal Forest Management Technician to support property managers on AU lands in Lee County. Tasks include timber cruising, data entry, weed control, and assisting with prescribed fires.

Strong emphasis on equipment maintenance, repair of small engines, and operating forest equipment. Some travel to MOT, North Auburn, and Crooked Oaks for events may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience with small engine troubleshooting and repair.
• Valid driver's license required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to operate and maintain farm/forestry equipment.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Timber cruising and boundary line marking
• Field data collection and data entry
• Forest road and trail maintenance
• Weed control and invasive species management
• Assisting with prescribed fire operations
• Equipment maintenance and repair (primary emphasis)
• Operation of farm and forestry equipment (mowers, weed eaters, bush hogs, drip torches, etc.)
• Assisting with events and tours at AU properties
• Cleaning and organizing AU forestry facilities and storage areas
• General maintenance of AU forest lands and infrastructure
