Job summary

The University of Maine seeks a Forest Technician to support the University Forests operations. Reports to the University Forest Manager with possible direction from the Forest Operations Manager. Work is year-round outdoors, often with limited supervision.

Responsibilities include supervising student workers, operating heavy equipment, maintaining facilities, assisting with timber harvests, field labs, and maple syrup operations; travel statewide and occasional emergency duties.

• Train and supervise student employees in activities such as per-commercial thinning of forest stands, firewood processing, boundary line maintenance, timber harvesting, forest inventory and invasive plant control.
