The HUMAN SERVICE CHAMBER OF FRANKLIN COUNTY is looking for a Seasonal Grower in New Albany, Indiana. This role offers a chance to work with a committed team to cultivate organic produce enhancing our community's food security.

As a Seasonal Grower, you will perform hands-on farming tasks, contribute to volunteer efforts, and help ensure the growth of fresh fruits and vegetables. The position starts now and lasts until the end of the season in October 2026, with varying weekly hours from 35 to 40.

Company Overview

The Garden For All is a registered nonprofit organization based in New Albany, Ohio with a powerful mission: Fight Hunger and Grow Community. We bring this mission to life through the dedication of a passionate volunteer group and the hard work of a seasonal farm team. We operate as a non‑profit vegetable and cut flower farm, specializing in growing high‑quality produce and blooms using all organic methods. Every harvest is donated to our local food pantry partners, providing fresh, nutritious food to those in need throughout central Ohio. We grow our vegetables at our New Albany, OH location and at our farm in Johnstown, OH.

Our Facilities

In 2026, we proudly enter our seventh growing season, bolstered by our recent farm expansion. Our 3.5‑acre organic vegetable farming space in Johnstown, OH is equipped with robust infrastructure, including:

  • A wash/pack building and walk‑in refrigeration
  • A barn with a tractor and front loader
  • Three high tunnels
  • Established growing areas with a well‑supported irrigation system
  • Mature plantings of raspberries

What You’ll Do
  • Work with an inspiring team of volunteers to cultivate an incredible variety of organic fruits and vegetables.
  • Learn and apply organic, no‑till, and low‑till farming methods.
  • Help create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment where people of all backgrounds come together to grow food and community.

The role encompasses a variety of essential growing tasks, including seed propagation, bed preparation, planting diverse vegetables, cultivation and plant care, harvesting, irrigation management, and maintaining the health and productivity of our growing spaces.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong communication skills to engage and collaborate with hundreds of passionate volunteers each season.
  • A strong work ethic and self‑starter mentality.
  • Interest and/or experience in organic growing and sustainable agriculture practices including propagation, planting, cultivating, harvesting, and wash pack.
Additional Experience
  • Experience operating light farming and landscaping equipment (BCS, Zero Turn Mower, Trimmer, Tractor with cultivation implements).
  • Previous farming, landscaping, or horticultural experience is a plus.
  • Troubleshooting skills and resolving issues with infrastructure and equipment (irrigation, electric fence/fencing, small engines, implements, etc.).
  • Must be able to work in all types of outdoor weather conditions including heat. This role involves repetitive bending, lifting, crouching, kneeling, and other physical activities. Please consider your comfort and capacity for such tasks before applying.

Employment Dates

Full Time Position (35‑40 hrs per week): Starting now – to end of season (Oct 2026). Occasional Saturday work (to support volunteer working sessions or support watering / care of propagation greenhouses).
