Job summary

South Burlington Recreation Department seeks a Seasonal Events and Operations Assistant to help plan, execute and wrap up community events. You will assist with setup, event operations and tear down, coordinate volunteers, and ensure a welcoming, customer-service oriented experience for attendees at SB Nite Out, Recreation On The Go and other programs.

Responsibilities include preparing facilities, setting up/removing equipment, assisting with food, parking and registration, and promoting

Qualifications

• One year of customer service experience is required.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends; hours based on event needs.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Previous experience in programming or special events is preferred.
• Enthusiasm, patience and proactiveness.
• Ability to work both independently and as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate volunteers and prepare facilities for events.
• Set up and tear down equipment; assist with event operations.
• Provide exceptional customer-service oriented interaction with the public.
• Assist in planning and execution from set-up to breakdown.
• Resolve guest concerns and special requests.
• Promote Recreation and Parks values.
• Maintain appearance and cleanliness of all work areas and public spaces.
• Collect water sample tests to monitor water quality at beaches for Blue-Green Algae.
• Assess trails for safety and trash removal.
