Job summary

Evergreen Park & Recreation District seeks Seasonal Events Staff for Nightmare at 1520 in Evergreen, CO. You will assist with scare-actor roles, guest check-in, ticketing, line management, and general event support during evening shifts.

No acting or event experience is required, but reliability, enthusiasm, flexibility, and teamwork are essential. Makeup and costumes are provided, and you may create a spooky character each night.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must successfully complete any required background screening.
  • No acting or event experience required.
  • Dependable and punctual for scheduled shifts.
  • Comfortable interacting with guests and working as part of a team.
  • Willing to perform both scare-actor and guest-service assignments.
  • Able to work indoors and outdoors in dark, loud, crowded, and cold or changing weather conditions.
  • Able to remain standing or walking for extended periods and move safely through dimly lit areas.

Responsibilities

Job Location: Admin Building - Evergreen, CO 80439

Salary Range: $17.00 - $17.00 Hourly

Under the direction of the Events Coordinator, Seasonal Events Staff support EPRD's annual haunted house, Nightmare at 1520. Team members will help create a fun, spooky, and safe experience by working in a variety of assignments, including scare acting, guest check-in, ticketing, line management, guest assistance, event setup, and cleanup.

Staff should be comfortable rotating between costumed performance and guest-service or operational assignments based on the needs of the event. Makeup and costumes will be provided, but the creativity is up to you! Come with ideas for the character or spooky look you want to create—you can develop a favorite character to use throughout the season or change it up from night to night. No acting or event experience is required—just reliability, enthusiasm, flexibility, and a willingness to be part of the team!

Event Schedule
  • Haunted house event dates are: October 9, 10, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 29, 30, and 31
  • Event shifts are expected to fall between approximately 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
  • Exact shift times may vary based on event and operational needs.
  • Staff must be available to work at least eight event dates.
Mandatory Training
  • Staff must attend one of the following training sessions:
    • September 28, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
    • September 30, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Essential Functions
  • Perform assigned scare-actor roles in costume and character
  • Assist with guest check-in, ticketing, and admission procedures.
  • Help organize lines and direct guests through the event.
  • Answer questions and provide friendly, helpful guest support.
  • Rotate among performance, guest-service, and event-support assignments as needed.
  • Help create an engaging and appropriately spooky experience while following established performance and safety guidelines.
  • Monitor event areas and help maintain the safety of guests and staff.
  • Assist with event setup, reset, cleanup, and teardown as assigned.
  • Follow instructions and respond appropriately to changing event needs.
  • Communicate concerns, hazards, guest issues, or emergencies promptly to the Events Coordinator.
  • Work cooperatively with other event staff and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Perform other event-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 16 years old.

  • Must be dependable and arrive on time for scheduled shifts.
  • Must be comfortable interacting with guests and working as part of a team.
  • Must be willing and able to perform both scare-actor and guest-service assignments.
  • Must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in dark, loud, crowded, and potentially cold or changing weather conditions.
  • Must be comfortable working around theatrical fog, strobe lights, loud sounds, costumes, makeup, and other haunted-house effects.
  • Must be able to remain standing or walking for extended periods and move safely through dimly lit event areas.
  • Must be able to maintain appropriate behavior and follow safety expectations while remaining in character.
