Job summary

Wildlife Conservation Society is seeking an Event Assistant for the Central Park Zoo. This seasonal, non-exempt role supports the Sales and Venue Operations Manager with vendor load-in/out, deliveries, and on-site coordination to ensure successful events that meet WCS standards.

Ideal candidates are highly driven, flexible, and able to work mornings, evenings, holidays, and weekends. The job requires lifting up to 50 pounds and maintaining safety during all activities.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent (GED) required.
• Prior event or production experience preferred.
• Must have strong verbal communication skills.
• Must have full availability including day shift, mornings, late nights, weekends and holidays.
• Must be able to lift 50-pounds.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid driver's license; NY residents must possess a NY license; out-of-state license for out-of-state residents.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high level of service while maintaining a professional and personable demeanor with clients and vendors.
• Communicate effectively across departments.
• Oversee vendor delivery, load in, set up, while enforcing park rules for guest experience and safety.
• Oversee vendor load out, enforcing established breakdown procedures.
• Assist and give direction to supplemental staff.
• Monitor vendors during the course of the day to enforce and maintain fire safety.
• Assist receiving, stocking and keeping inventory of on-site product.
• Conducting site visits on behalf of Sales and Venue Operations Manager.
• Assist with Fire Marshall and Department of Buildings inspection.
• Follow all WCS safety and security policies and procedures.
• Perform other related duties assigned by Sales Manager.
