Job summary

Kansas City Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Softball Coach to lead our athletics program at multiple locations, focusing on student-athlete growth, safety, and adherence to MSHSAA standards. The role promotes program excellence while aligning with district goals and expectations.

The coach coordinates practices, supervises students, and handles game logistics, with required professional development to maintain coaching eligibility.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the sport and coaching philosophy.
• Must complete MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate softball with a full team per MSHSAA standards.
• Assist in implementing athletic standards per MSHSAA Handbook and attend required sessions.
• Assist in program coordination and supervision of students at practices and contests.
• Help plan transportation, facilities, officials, and game management.
• Organize and schedule practice sessions to develop student-athlete potential.
• Emphasize safety and best training/injury management procedures.
• Demonstrate sportsmanship in practices and contests.
• Assist in equipment return per department handbook.
• Pursue ongoing professional growth through clinics/publications.
• Complete MSHSAA/NFHS courses and 8 hours of professional development (district, school, clinics).
