Job summary

The City of Loveland is seeking a Seasonal Day Camp Counselor to assist with instruction of daily crafts, games, enrichment activities and field trips for children aged 5-16 enrolled in Adventure Bound Day Camp programs at the Chilson Recreation Center.

The position runs March through August, up to 40 hours per week, with mandatory staff trainings and camp dates. Salary is $14.00-$15.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience, and the role has no supervisory duties.

Qualifications

• Knowledge, skills and abilities: Communicates effectively and diplomatically with participants, parents, co-workers, and the general public.
• Ability to react quickly and appropriately in emergency situations with composure.
• Exhibits patience and uses conflict-resolution skills with campers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist with instruction of daily crafts, games, enrichment activities and field trips on a daily basis.
• Actively participate in the preparation, implementation, and clean-up of age-appropriate activities.
• May be responsible for assisting with opening or closing camp procedures on a rotating basis.
• Inspect classroom/program environment and equipment for safety and communicate repair needs to the Day Camp Director.
• Keep current attendance records throughout daily shifts in camp.
• Communicate behavior strategies with Day Camp staff and campers during activities.
• Attend and participate in required staff trainings and meetings.
• Respond calmly in stressful or emergency situations according to established procedures.
• Adhere to Adventure Bound Day Camp, Chilson Center, and City of Loveland policies.
