The Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is seeking a Seasonal Custodial Maintenance Worker to join the Facility Services Division in Upper Marlboro, MD. This year-round, 4-days-per-week role ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for staff and visitors.

You will perform routine custodial and light maintenance duties, follow safety procedures, and support operations across indoor and outdoor spaces, including weather-related tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Clean, maintain, and operate facilities to keep them clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming for staff and visitors.
• Perform routine custodial and light maintenance duties.
• Follow safety procedures and proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Work 6:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., four days per week.
• Support operations across indoor and outdoor spaces as needed.

Job description

The Facility Services Division is seeking a Seasonal Custodial Maintenance Worker to work in the Facility Services Division in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. This position is responsible for the cleaning, upkeep, and daily operations of the Facility Services Division. This position performs routine custodial and light maintenance duties to ensure our facility is clean, sanitary, safe, and welcoming for staff and visitors. This is a year-round seasonal position working 4 days per week.

Required

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred

• Previous custodial, janitorial, or general maintenance experience
• Familiarity with cleaning chemical and custodial equipment
• Experience with operating floor buffers, vacuums, and basic cleaning machinery

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of custodial cleaning methods and safety practices
• Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and custodial equipment
• Ability to lift, bend, stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
• Effective communication and customer service skills

  May be subject to drug and alcohol testing.

  Work hours

  • Work hours will be 6:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. 4 days per week.

  Working Conditions/Environment

  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to weather conditions, cleaning chemicals, noise, dirt, and physical activity, including lifting, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
