Job summary

Jakks Pacific, Inc. (Disguise division) in Poway, CA, seeks a Seasonal Technical Designer to support costume sampling, working with design, samples, and pre-production teams. The role focuses on technical accuracy and timely delivery for production.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years as a Technical Designer, knowledge of garment construction and patternmaking is a plus, and proficiency in Adobe Illustrator. This temporary position offers collaboration with cross-functional teams and opportunities

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–5 years as a Technical Designer; patternmaking knowledge is a plus.
• Must have strong eye to identify fit issues and recommend solutions.
• Solid understanding of garment construction and fabric types.
• Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and ability to communicate with vendors.

Responsibilities

• Compile information on garment components (fit, fabric, construction, stitch, trim) into fit comments.
• Accurately measure garments to identify fit issues.
• Collaborate with vendors on fit construction and solve fit issues.
• Execute fit comments to align with production timelines and action plans.
• Provide call-outs and critiques during fittings and communicate all fit components to vendors.
• May approve samples to proceed to production after evaluating fit, pattern shaping, hanger appeal, and functionality.
• Request final production tech packs and patterns from vendors and verify accuracy.
• Issue grading guidelines and tolerances to vendors after fit approval to maintain quality across production.
• Create tech packs for all designs.
