Job summary

Klamath County Fire District 1 (KCFD1) in Oregon seeks a Community Risk Reduction Technician for hands-on work to reduce wildfire risk. You will conduct defensible-space assessments, support wood-chipper and trailer programs, and assist residents with mitigation projects while maintaining records.

This seasonal, grant-funded role offers active field work with 40 hours weekly, and requires a valid Oregon driver's license and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

  • Valid Oregon driver's license.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 certifications.
  • Experience with defensible space, fuels management, or home ignition zone assessments.
  • Knowledge of wildfire behavior and fuel-reduction strategies.
  • Ability to work outdoors in physically demanding conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct defensible-space assessments.
  • Perform vegetation removal, pruning, and fuel-reduction work.
  • Support the District's wood-chipper and Community Risk Reduction trailer programs.
  • Help residents identify and complete wildfire-mitigation projects.
  • Assist with public education and community outreach.
  • Maintain accurate records of Community Risk Reduction activities.
