Job summary

Idaho Power in Boise, Idaho is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for our summer 2027 internship program. The intern will design new or rebuilt transmission line sections, select pole heights, spans, and conduct constructability analyses under supervision, contributing to an expanding renewable energy portfolio.

Responsibilities include assisting engineering staff, interfacing with departments, and participating in QA/QC reviews with transmission design engineers.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED AND Currently enrolled in an ABET accredited program majoring in engineering at a junior, non-graduating senior status, or in an advanced engineering degree program
• Experience: N/A
• License: Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position

Responsibilities

• Operate under supervision and assist engineering staff to gain skills and experience
• Assist with design of transmission lines including pole heights, span lengths, structure types, locations, constructability, tensions and sags
• Review designs periodically with Idaho Power transmission design engineers through QA/QC program
• Support the transmission group on additional engineering requests throughout the service territory
