Job summary

Scheels is seeking a temporary seasonal cashier to support a busy store environment. You will greet customers, engage in conversation, scan items, and bag purchases, while promoting the Scheels Visa card and digital receipts.

Position involves basic math, cash handling, and accurately balancing the cash drawer. Shifts are 2–3 per week, with hours roughly 9:30 AM–10 PM, up to 40 hours weekly, starting Oct 28 or Nov 2. Wage: $16 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 1-3 months of cashiering experience preferred.
• Able to operate a computerized register system and balance cash drawer.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with a smile at entry/exit.
• Provide personalized service and promote digital receipts.
• Scan items accurately and ensure proper rung and payment.
• Bag purchases carefully and maintain cleanliness of checkout area.
• Promote Scheels Visa and its benefits; encourage sign-up for digital receipts.
• Balance cash drawer and follow cash handling policies.
• Be aware of in-store events and promotions.

Responsibilities:

• Greet all customers with a smile when entering and exiting the store
• Enhance the customer experience by engaging in conversation while providing personalized service and consistently meeting the goals of the digital receipt program
• Accurately scan every item customers are purchasing, ensuring all merchandise is properly rung through and paid for before the customer leaves the store
• Treat merchandise with care, and bag purchases carefully and efficiently
• Promote the Scheels Visa card and clearly explain all benefits
• Ask every customer to sign up for digital receipts
• End each transaction by saying “thank you” to every customer
• Perform basic math, calculate discounts, make change, and accurately balance the cash drawer
• Operate the computerized register system and follow all cash handling policies
• Maintain an awareness of in-store events and promotions
• Keep the checkout area stocked and clean

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• 1-3 months of cashiering experience preferred

Physical Requirements/Lifting Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation.

Medium work – Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Schedule:

This is a temporary seasonal position. This position will end after 60 days of employment. This position will include 2-3 shifts a week, Monday through Friday shift can vary between the hours of 9:30 A.M -10 P.M, and must be available for either ‘A’ or ‘B’ below weekend requirements. Saturday shifts will vary between 9:30 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. and Sunday 11:00 A.M - 8:00 P.M. Applicants can expect a range of 20-30 hours per week as a minimum, but can work up to 40. We are looking for a start date of either Oct 28th or Nov 2nd.

Wage: $16.
