Job summary

Penn State's Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center seeks a seasonal assistant director of summer camp programs. The role supports and creates the highest quality experience for everyone at camp.

They will be involved in facilitating staff training, creating program materials, assisting with logistics associated with camp, developing programs, teaching if needed, and cultivating a positive, flexible atmosphere centered around learning and growth.

Qualifications

• Experience in camp and outdoor environmental education.
• Program administration experience preferred.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather and long hours.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate staff training sessions and lead program development.
• Create program materials and assist with logistics for camp.
• Teach when needed and foster a positive, safe atmosphere.
• Oversee camp activities, sign-in/out, and daily operations.
• Support field activities and coordinate with staff across programs.
• Assist in emergency planning and staff recognition efforts.
