Job summary

Manatt's is seeking an Asphalt Screed Operator (Seasonal) based in Newton, IA, with statewide travel to project sites. You will operate asphalt screed equipment on roadways, parking lots, and patching, perform daily maintenance, and coordinate with the paving team to ensure a smooth, dense surface.

This role requires adherence to safety policies (OSHA), conduct of pre- and post-inspections, and the ability to work long hours, including weekends during peak season.

Qualifications

• Adhere to safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Maintain safe work environment for self and others.
• Perform daily pre- and post inspections with proper documentation.
• Communicate using hand signals or other movements when backing.
• Operate equipment safely and report issues to supervisor.
• Operate and maneuver machine with correct rolling patterns on asphalt surfaces.
• Control density, surface smoothness, and ride quality of mats.
• May add/remove screed extensions and related equipment.
• Follow supervisor directions for daily tasks and project needs.
• Perform heavy physical activities including lifting and climbing.
• Oversee quality control of completed work.
• Assist in training less experienced workers on equipment operation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate between field foreman and paving team to maintain production.
• Direct asphalt trucks and ground tasks like luting and shoveling black top.
