Job summary

The Asphalt Screed Operator at C. S. McCrossan, Inc.

supports heavy highway construction projects across Minnesota, including seasonal paving work from April to November. You will attach and adjust the rear screed to a paver, spreading hot mix asphalt with precision to meet surface specs. You must have at least 4 years of finishing rolling experience, a high school diploma or GED, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 4+ years of finishing rolling experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• General knowledge of the heavy highway construction industry.
• General knowledge of heavy equipment operation.

Responsibilities

• Adjust the screed's crown, slope, and extensions to ensure asphalt thickness and surface smoothness meet specifications.
• Monitor asphalt rolling in front of screed for consistent and even distribution.
• Communicate with the paver driver and ground crew throughout paving process.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance and identify equipment malfunctions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• There is constant exposure to various weather conditions typical in the states where the work is performed, including noise, dust, and other materials. The work environment is in areas where heavy equipment, power tools, and traffic are present. There is exposure to heights up to 50 feet and depths of up to 80 feet in this construction environment. Demonstrate or be corrected to 20/20 vision.
