Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Seasonal Agricultural Worker for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

• Performs duties for the farm’s field and workshop which includes assisting with the maintenance for the landscaping and non-research areas of farm, irrigation system maintenance such as winterization and spring start up.
• Assists with the maintenance and repairs of the farm’s equipment.
• Field work will include mowing, leaf clean up, soil sampling, and preparing fields for the growing season on Rutgers Horticultural Research Farm II (turfgrass).

Position Status: Per Diem

Hours Per Week: 40

Daily Work Shift: Day

Work Arrangement: This position requires a fully on-site work arrangement.

Minimum Education and Experience:

• High school/vocational school education or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Some experience in turf and/or equipment maintenance is desirable.
• Availability for weekend work is a plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Should be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Must be willing to work in an environment in which pesticides are applied.
• Should be able to tolerate working outdoors in hot, humid, cold, or dusty conditions.
