Job summary

eBay, a global ecommerce platform, is seeking a talented mid-level engineer for the Search Backend team to advance index distribution at scale. You will design and operate real-time and batch pipelines delivering search indexes to thousands of nodes, ensuring freshness and reliability for hundreds of millions of users.

Responsibilities include building scalable, fault-tolerant pipelines, self-healing infrastructure, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Computer Science or related field.
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience building production applications.
• Experience building backend distributed systems with fault tolerance, replication, and concurrency.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core components of index distribution infrastructure, including real-time streaming pipelines.
• Architect scalable, fault-tolerant pipelines for real-time and batch index distribution at global scale.
• Build intelligent self-healing index distribution clusters with health monitoring and automated remediation.
• Own distributed pipeline components from design to production, ensuring quality and reliability.
• Write clean, well-documented code that is maintainable and scalable.
• Collaborate with Search Backend, Infrastructure, and partner teams to ensure timely index delivery.
• Troubleshoot distributed pipeline failures and performance bottlenecks across large-scale infrastructure.
