Job summary

Ameri-Force, Inc. is seeking an experienced Seam Welder for a shipyard environment. Strong FCAW welding experience, blueprint reading, and test-plate work with metric measurements are required.

You will fit test plates and set up welding machines, performing tests in 1G/2G/3G with X-ray coupons as part of quality checks. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in shipyards or 5+ years in heavy industrial settings, are U.S. citizens, and bring their own hood for testing.

Job description

Position: Seam Welder

Pay: $29.00/hour

Per-Diem: $150.00

Lodging offered as an advance for up to 2 weeks

Job Description

We are seeking experienced Seam Welders with strong FCAW welding experience in a shipyard or heavy industrial environment. Candidates must be comfortable fitting their own test plates, working from blueprints, using the metric system, and setting up and troubleshooting welding machines.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of shipyard experience, OR
• 1–2 years of shipyard experience plus at least 5 years of heavy industrial experience.

Welding & Testing Requirements

• Must have experience with FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding).
• Candidates will test in 1G, 2G, and 3G positions on steel.
• Must also complete a separate FCAW 4G test.
• Testing includes vertical and horizontal welds using ceramic backing tape and ceramic wedges.
• Certain test coupons will be X-rayed.
• Candidates are responsible for fitting their own test plates.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must have an original or certified copy of U.S. Persons documentation available for testing and orientation.
• Must be highly experienced with:
  • Setting up, troubleshooting, and operating welding machines
  • Metric layout and measurements
  • Reading and working from blueprints
  • Hand tools
  • Grinding and joint preparation for NDT
  • Surface and joint preparation for production welding
  • Inspecting welds for defects
  • Hot-work and Lockout/Tagout safety procedures

Additional Requirements

Candidates should arrive for testing with their own welding hood. Candidates must be comfortable working in an active shipyard environment, including climbing ladders, working from scaffolding, handling material, and following all applicable safety requirements.
