Overview

General Seal Coating Laborer (Civil Construction)

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of sites, unloading, loading, and moving construction materials, and clearing debris and hazards.
  • Prepare sites and areas to receive seal coat and crack-fill materials, which may include operating ride-on blowers, brooms, multiple hand tools, and gas-powered equipment.
  • Assist in getting all necessary hand tools and equipment prepped and ready for use.
  • Setup and remove all necessary traffic control and pedestrian safety equipment and materials.
  • Apply crack fill material by means of pour pots, trailer mounted wands, or walk-behind applicators.
  • Apply seal coat material by means of truck mounted spray bar, wand sprayer, brooms, brushes, or squeegee machine.
  • Upon completion of the day, cleanup all tools, aid in the cleanup of equipment, and cleanup the site.
  • Direct traffic near construction sites when necessary to ensure the safety of workers and the public, including setup and maintenance of cones, barricades, and safety fencing.
  • Strong commitment to attendance and punctuality is a must.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Experience in seal coat and crack-fill operations or a related field: 2-4 years’ experience.
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred but not required.
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk, stand, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, climb, and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials (up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to remain alert and respond to team members and the surrounding environment in highly safety-sensitive working conditions and near large heavy civil equipment and/or live traffic.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication skills, and ability to follow instructions.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Ability to pass Company pre-employment drug screen.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and travel out of town as needed.
