Job summary

ShopRite of Jacksonville in Phoenix, MD is seeking a Seafood Associate to deliver great customer service while maintaining and operating the Seafood Department. You will prepare and pack fresh and frozen seafood according to company standards and assist in ensuring product quality.

Key duties include greeting customers, stocking, rotating, checking prices, maintaining clean work areas, complying with safety and QA standards, and lifting up to 50 lbs as required.

Qualifications

• Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed seafood including shellfish and spices.
• Ability to tolerate dust and chemical agents during routine housekeeping duties.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25lbs., and occasionally lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Must be flexible with assigned schedules and attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Greet all Customers and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Receive, code-date, prepare, store, price-mark, and restock products with quality and rotation in mind.
• Be knowledgeable about various seafood types and related merchandise and their uses.
• Contribute to freshness and quality control of products.
• Handle damaged and spoiled products per policy and assist with controlling losses.
• Check refrigeration equipment and report issues.
• Calculate product margins and retail prices if needed.
• Record invoices and verify accuracy.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
• Sanitize surfaces, utensils, and equipment per QA standards.
• Keep floors clear of debris and spills.
• Operate and maintain department equipment and report issues.
• Adhere to QA, safety, and regulatory standards in seafood operations.
