Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the Meat/Seafood department. Support the day-to-day functions of the Meat/Seafood operations. Responsibilities
  1. Promote trust and respect among associates.
  2. Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates.
  3. Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company/store goals.
  4. Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
  5. Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
  6. Train and develop associates on performance of their job and participate in the performance appraisal process.
  7. Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
  8. Cut seafood to customers’ requests using proper cutting equipment.
  9. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
  10. Inform customers of meat/seafood specials.
  11. Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
  12. Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
  13. Understand the store’s layout and be able to locate products.
  14. Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
  15. Implement the promotional plan for the department.
  16. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  17. Monitor and control expenses for the department.
  18. Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
  19. Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.
  20. Ensure compliance with all country of origin labeling and regulations.
  21. Plan, organize, and supervise the inventory process.
  22. Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering.
  23. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  24. Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
  25. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
  26. Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  27. Report safety risks, illegal activities, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
  28. Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  29. Manage conflicts in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
  30. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  31. Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
  32. Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  33. Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
Minimum
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Current food handlers permit upon employment
  • Proficient knife handling skills and speed
Desired
