Direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the Meat/Seafood department. Support the day-to-day functions of the Meat/Seafood operations. Responsibilities
- Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company/store goals.
- Establish performance goals for the department and empower associates to meet or exceed targets.
- Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation.
- Train and develop associates on performance of their job and participate in the performance appraisal process.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
- Cut seafood to customers’ requests using proper cutting equipment.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
- Inform customers of meat/seafood specials.
- Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
- Develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
- Create and execute sales promotions in partnership with store management.
- Implement the period promotional plan for the department.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Monitor and control expenses for the department.
- Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note any discrepancies in inventory.
- Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly price changes by updating shelf tags and promotional signs.
- Ensure familiarity and compliance with all country of origin labeling and regulations.
- Plan, organize, and supervise the inventory process.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are kept.
- Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management.
- Report all safety risks, issues, and illegal activities, including robbery, theft, or fraud.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
- Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
Minimum
- Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Current food handler's permit upon employment
- Management experience preferred
- Knowledge of cutting, tray, wrapping, and labeling
- Seafood experience
- Retail experience
