Seafood Clerk (Food Services)

Get hooked on our fresh seafood department at Uncle Giuseppe's! Our Ramsey store is actively seeking a Seafood Clerk to join its seafood team. Uncle Giuseppe's Gourmet Marketplace serves its customers freshly delivered seafood, with a vast array of choices including many types of fish, crab, lobsters, clams, oysters, scallops, and more. Our Seafood Chefs prepare seafood dishes in gourmet style for customers to grab and go for a home-cooked gourmet meal.

Our Seafood Clerks display seafood products and related items in a careful, clean, neat, and expedient manner while ensuring that all products are fresh, rotated, and well-stocked. They make recommendations on seafood products and address all customer service questions and concerns.

Responsibilities

1. Display counters and cases are arranged, stocked, and replenished with ice and seafood products.
2. Check and verify the freshness of seafood items in live tanks; remove spoiled products and rotate merchandise.
3. Assist customers with seafood products, prices, and services; offer suggestions and help find or select seafood products.
4. Prepare special seafood fillets and cuts as requested by customers.
5. Weigh, price, and package customer selections using weigh scales, label machines, and wrapping machines.
6. Process merchandise according to production guidelines and sanitation standards.
7. Keep displays iced according to company policy and change ice as scheduled.
8. Receive and unload seafood deliveries and store products appropriately.
9. Maintain inventory of supplies and newly received merchandise.
10. Monitor coolers, display cases, and tanks for correct temperatures to ensure product quality.
11. Maintain a clean and safe department, report hazards, and exercise proper safety practices.
12. Operate and clean seafood equipment and tools.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in a seafood department of a grocery or seafood store.
• Knowledge of seafood preparations and display standards.
• Ability to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to interpret instructions and solve problems.
