The student tutor tutors a diverse population of undergraduate students in the Content-Area Tutoring Center. The peer tutor works in the Center in-person a minimum of 10 hours per week, Mondays through Fridays.**Essential Functions**1. Provides one-on-one and small-group tutorial services to a diverse population of undergraduate students. The tutor:* Identifies students’ content-area skills needs.* Differentiates strategies and instructional materials to meet individual students’ needs.* Assists student in understanding the material while fostering student autonomy.* Engages students in tutoring sessions by utilizing active learning strategies.* Motivates students by being an active listener.* Provides positive feedback and makes recommendations for further study or practice.* Respects students’ diverse backgrounds and unique perspectives.2. Documents student work and progress by:* Using the processes and systems established within the Content-Area Tutoring Center to document student progress.* Entering all data in a timely fashion as specified by the Glenn Hubert Learning Center’s Manager.* Communicating with the Glenn Hubert Learning Center’s Manager regarding students with challenging or unique situations and documenting record details of such situations through the specified means within the Content-Area Tutoring Center.3. Participates in professional development and training sessions as related to tutor responsibilities.
