Job summary

Nutrien is seeking an experienced SDS and hazard classification specialist to join our team in the United States. You will assess chemical hazards, author Safety Data Sheets, and maintain SDS inventories, ensuring compliance with GHS and regulatory requirements.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field, minimum 3 years of SDS authoring and hazard classification experience, and strong data interpretation skills. Travel 0–10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret technical data and apply weight of evidence to arrive at sound classification decisions.
• Experience authoring SDS per GHS and country requirements.
• Familiarity with EPA, SARA, IARC, and Proposition 65.

Responsibilities

• Conduct chemical hazard assessments of new and existing products per GHS and country requirements.
• Author and maintain SDS documents using SDS generation software.
• Ensure appropriate regulatory designations and warnings on SDSs (EPA, SARA, IARC, Prop 65).
• Interpret lab reports to inform hazard designations and take follow-up actions.
• Develop and maintain classification weight-of-evidence files.
• Monitor regulatory changes for North America impact on SDSs.
• Gather product formulations and raw material SDSs for classifications.
• Identify potential chemical reactions and validate with R&D.
• Review draft SDSs and fine-tune output on a weight-of-evidence basis.
• Contribute to a safety-focused culture and safe work environment.
• Complete other tasks to meet business objectives.
• Maintain internal SDS inventories and accessibility.
