Job summary

Apple, Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) for Creative Apps in San Diego.

You will architect test automation frameworks, work with engineers and product managers, and ensure quality is embedded in design and delivery across iOS and macOS platforms. You will build production-grade test suites in Python and Swift, own the UI automation stack, and influence release quality through comprehensive strategies.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on SDET, QA automation, or testing-focused software engineering.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and Swift for building test frameworks.
• Full SDLC knowledge with quality gates from design to release.
• Experience designing multi-layered test strategies (functional, integration, regression, exploratory).
• Experience building UI automation with XCUITest or XUI against Apple platforms.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD as living infrastructure.
• Applied LLMs or GenAI tooling to test generation, failure analysis, or coverage gap identification.
• Prompt engineering techniques in QA or developer tooling.
• Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent depth demonstrated through industry work.

Responsibilities

• Build production-grade automated test suites in Python and Swift for iOS and macOS features.
• Own the UI automation infrastructure end-to-end—from XCUITest/XUI framework design to CI/CD integration.
• Drive test strategy for feature areas with coverage models, risk tiers, and quality gates.
• Identify and close coverage gaps via root-cause analysis and automate improvements.
• Evaluate and integrate GenAI-assisted test generation and prompt engineering workflows.
• Perform manual functional testing as needed for complex workflows not yet automated.
