Job summary

iCapital is seeking a Python Software Developer in Test (SDET) in Salt Lake City to join the Quality Assurance team. You will craft automated tests for API and backend services using Python and Behave, integrate them into GitLab CI/CD, and enhance automation frameworks including blockchain components.

Qualifications

• 8+ years QA engineering delivery experience with backend/API focus.
• 4+ years in Agile SDLC with CI/CD.
• Hands-on Python programming with Behave (BDD) and TDD.
• Strong testing of REST APIs, backend microservices, distributed systems.
• Experience with blockchain tech is a plus.
• CI/CD tooling knowledge (GitLab CI/CD).
• Familiarity with testing tools: Behave, PyTest, Postman, REST Tools, JMeter.
• Proficient with GitLab, Git, Jenkins, and Docker.

Responsibilities

• Build and implement automated test suites for API and backend services.
• Develop and maintain tests using Behave (BDD) and Python.
• Integrate tests into GitLab CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
• Maintain automation frameworks for evolving architectures including blockchain components.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and DevOps to ensure testability.
• Manage defect workflows with JIRA and ensure traceability.
• Define and publish QA metrics to support automated testing efforts.
• Build and maintain performance/load testing for backend services and smart contracts.
• Conduct functional, API, automation, performance, and integration testing as needed.
• Contribute to continuous QA process improvements in an Agile environment.
