Job summary

Amazon in Seattle is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the AWS Config Rules Platform. You will design, build, and operate the evaluation engine that scales across accounts and regions, enabling customers to enforce security policies and drive compliance at enterprise scale.

The role offers high ownership and exposure to large-scale distributed systems, collaborating with senior engineers to deliver robust, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience on large-scale systems.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software language.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate high-scale distributed services powering the AWS Config Rules evaluation engine.
• Own solutions across design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and support.
• Improve scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency as adoption grows.
• Build capabilities that expand how customers evaluate and enforce compliance.
• Participate in on-call rotation and drive root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with Config, Resource Explorer, Security Hub, and governance teams.
