Job summary

Amazon Leo is seeking a Software Development Engineer for the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) that powers satellite production operations. You will design, develop, and deploy MES software that manages work orders, routing, data collection, traceability, and analytics across Leo's manufacturing facilities.

You will build integrations with shop floor systems (e.g., Ignition) and enterprise systems (ERP, PLM, quality).

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupation.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered systems using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop MES application features including work order management, process routing, recipe management, data collection, and product traceability.
• Build and maintain integrations between the MES platform and shop floor control systems (e.g., Ignition).
• Develop integrations between MES and ERP, PLM, and quality management platforms.
• Implement manufacturing process enforcement logic to ensure correct sequence and validations.
• Build data pipelines and reporting capabilities for production analytics and KPI dashboards.
• Develop and maintain MES APIs and services for production teams.
• Write clean, production-quality code following MES standards and best practices.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability for MES services.
• Troubleshoot MES issues in production and perform root cause analysis.
• Support MES upgrades, migrations, and configuration changes.
• Develop automated testing frameworks for MES features.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and sprint planning.
• Contribute to MES documentation and runbooks.
• Support UAT activities with manufacturing end-users.
• Participate in on-call rotations to maintain MES availability.
