Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer II for the Elastic Load Balancing (ELB) team to help build scalable, highly available load balancing systems used globally.

The role emphasizes ownership, fast feedback, and cross-functional collaboration across AWS. You will design and implement in Java or C++, review code, mentor peers, and influence architecture for ALB, NLB, GWLB, and Privatelink, across regions with strong emphasis on reliability and security.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience on large systems.
• Experience programming in at least one major language (Java/C++).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable distributed systems powering ELB.
• Write high-quality code in Java, C++, or similar languages.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new features.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Own end-to-end delivery of medium to large projects.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical strategy.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and pairing.
• Monitor health metrics and participate in on-call rotations.
• Drive process improvements and stay current with AWS technologies.
• Stay aligned with industry trends to deliver innovative solutions.
