Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Seattle, WA is seeking a Software Development Engineer II (SDE-2) to join the EKS Node Runtime team.

You will design, build, and operate the node runtime infrastructure powering EKS compute, including optimized AMIs, GPU driver integration, VM isolation runtimes, and fleet-wide monitoring. You will lead end-to-end design decisions and collaborate across AWS teams to enable AI/ML workloads at scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Experience in Kubernetes, Docker or containers ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement the node runtime infrastructure powering EKS compute.
• Own the operational health of the node runtime layer for millions of workloads.
• Lead design and implementation of complex node runtime features end-to-end.
• Collaborate with EKS control plane, EC2, NVIDIA, and AWS AI/ML teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive engineering excellence.
• Improve AMI build/release pipelines and CVE patching.
