Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC's Sub-Same-Day (SSD) team develops the technology behind Amazon's fastest delivery promises across multiple marketplaces. The Software Development Engineer II will own high-scale, low-latency systems that influence checkout speed, reliability, and customer trust.

You will design, build, and operate services that compute the fastest reliable delivery promise for every order, with opportunities to mentor juniors and influence the technical roadmap.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture of scalable systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable, low-latency services that power SSD delivery promises.
• Own features end-to-end – requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operations.
• Mentor SDE-1s and junior engineers, review code and designs, and raise the technical bar.
• Lead design discussions and align with partner teams (Promise, transportation, search).
• Maintain operational excellence: monitoring, alarming, on-call, and reducing defects.
