Job summary

Amazon in Herndon, VA is seeking a Software Development Engineer for the US Amazon Dedicated Cloud Security team. You will own the development, operations, and health of critical services in a classified environment, building automation, IaC, and secure distributed systems.

You will design, implement, and test scalable software, collaborate with internal customers, and help maintain high security standards while balancing speed and reliability in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• Bachelor's degree, or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional).
• Experience programming with at least one software language, e.g., Java, C++, or C# with OO design.
• A US Citizen with an active Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-availability distributed software with emphasis on security, scalability, and fault tolerance.
• Build and integrate custom APIs and middleware for security system integration.
• Develop automation frameworks for IaC deployment and configuration management.
• Build monitoring and alerting systems to track the health and security of our services.
• Implement secure communication and authentication between distributed systems.
• Contribute to security architecture and technical design reviews.
• Write high-quality, maintainable code and perform peer reviews.
• Partner with internal customers to understand operational challenges and deliver solutions.
