Job summary

American Vision Partners seeks a dedicated Scribe to support our ophthalmology providers by documenting patient information in the EHR and assisting with pretests and measurements to ensure a seamless visit. This role emphasizes accuracy and patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting.

You will review details from technicians, aid in rooming patients, and help maintain efficient clinic flow while educating patients on conditions and consent for procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• COA and/or COT certification preferred.
• Ophthalmology experience is a plus.
• General knowledge of clinical and surgical procedures required.
• Strong computer skills are required.
• Detail oriented, reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible schedule Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

• Scribes for the provider by coding and documenting information into the patient’s EHR.
• Review patient visit details and preliminary work-up for completeness and accuracy.
• Assist in patient rooming and scheduling checks as needed.
• Ensure patient visits flow smoothly with appropriate timing.
• Generate prescriptions as directed through the EHR system.
• Educate patients on ophthalmic conditions and consent for procedures.
• Perform pretests such as Tonometry, extra-ocular muscle evaluation and basic refractions as needed.
• Communicate clinic flow concerns with facilitator and management.

Overview

As a Scribe, you will work with our providers by documenting information into Electronic Health Record and gather important medical information from the patient, perform preliminary tests, and gather measurements while providing highest quality of care and an exceptional patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Scribes for the provider by coding and documenting the dictated information into the patient’s electronic medical record (EHR)
• Reviews patient visit details and preliminary work-up completed by Ophthalmic Technician to ensure completeness and accuracy prior to the provider exam
• Fills patient rooms as needed
• Reviews provider’s schedules to confirm patients are scheduled correctly
• Ensures the patient’s visit flows smoothly with the provider in the appropriate amount of time
• Generates medication prescriptions as directed from the provider through Erx
• Educates patients on ophthalmic conditions and consent for procedures and surgery
• Performs pretests including Goldmann Tonometry, extra-ocular muscle evaluation, confrontational visual fields, refractions, and lensometry as needed
• Communicates any clinic flow concerns with facilitator and management

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• COA, COT preferred
• Ophthalmology experience is a plus
• General knowledge of clinical and surgical procedure requirements
• Strong computer skills
• Detailed oriented, reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Flexible schedule working Monday through Friday
