Job summary

OrthoVirginia Inc in Virginia is seeking a detail‑oriented medical scribe to document patient encounters in real time within the EMR, record histories, medications, allergies, exams, assessments and plans, and assist providers to optimize clinic flow.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Accurately document patient encounters within the EMR in real time.
  • Record patient histories, medications, allergies, review of systems, exam findings, assessments and plans.
  • Document provider-directed diagnoses, procedures, and patient education.
  • Enter orders, referrals, imaging requests, therapies, and other services.
  • Support provider workflow and clinic efficiency; coordinate with teams.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA and organizational policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Accurately document patient encounters within the electronic medical record (EMR) in real time.
  • Record patient histories, medications, allergies, review of systems, physical examination findings, assessments, and treatment plans.
  • Document provider-directed diagnoses, procedures, treatments, and patient education.
  • Enter provider-directed orders, referrals, imaging requests, therapies, and other treatment-related services.
  • Assist with administrative and clinical support tasks that facilitate provider workflow and clinic efficiency.
  • Coordinate and communicate with providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams as appropriate.
  • Adapt to physician-specific workflows while maintaining organizational documentation standards.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA, regulatory, and organizational policies.
  • Complete required training and competency requirements necessary to perform assigned job responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of clinic operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or current enrollment in healthcare, science, or related field.
  • Demonstrated interest in pursuing a healthcare-related career.
  • Coursework in biology, anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, exercise science, health sciences, public health, or related disciplines.
  • Previous healthcare experience such as: Medical Scribe Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Medical Assistant (MA) Athletic Training Physical Therapy Aide Clinical Research Physician Shadowing Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Experience using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Experience with Epic EMR preferred.
  • Typing proficiency of 60+ words per minute preferred.

IND123 Compensation Range for this position: $16.37 - $24.55 Compensation for this role will be based on several factors, including the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, education, skills, certifications, geography/market, and internal equity considerations.
