Job summary

Acme-Gridley and Davenport screw machines require a skilled Screw Machine Engineer to develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes, acting as the technical expert for tooling and process design.

You will work with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Tooling, and Production to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and cost targets are met while customer specifications are consistently achieved.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical/manufacturing engineering preferred.
• 8–10 years hands-on setup, operation and engineering of Acme-Gridley and Davenport screw machines.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand cams, gears and gearing.
• Proficiency with grinding and setting form tools, shave tools, drills and cutoffs.
• Strong math skills including decimals, fractions and metric conversions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for screw machines.
• Determine speeds, feeds, tooling geometry, cycle times and sequences to maximize productivity.
• Design tooling layouts, cam configurations, tooling sequences and machine setups for screw machines.
• Develop standard setup documentation and process instructions.
• Perform complex machine setups and obtain approval of new jobs.
• Optimize existing machine setups to improve throughput, quality and equipment utilization.
• Provide advanced technical troubleshooting for machining, tooling and process issues.
• Support production during startups and critical manufacturing challenges.
• Lead initiatives to reduce setup times, scrap, downtime and tooling costs.
• Ensure processes meet customer specifications and quality standards.
• Perform first-piece inspections and support root cause investigations.
