Job summary

C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. (CWR) in Florida is seeking a Screed Operator for our local road construction projects.

You will monitor screed performance, set up electronics with the paver operator, and ensure proper depth, grade, and cross section of asphalt. Candidates should have at least 2 years of screed experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to work days, nights, or weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' working knowledge of screed operation on asphalt pavers.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to work days, nights or weekends as needed.
• Able to complete all required paperwork efficiently.
• Must meet MVR requirements and have a valid Florida driver's license.
• Employer conducts drug screening and background check.

Responsibilities

• Observe distribution of paving material along the screed and control the screed to eliminate voids at curbs and joints.
• Set up screed electronics in conjunction with the paver operator.
• Perform adjustments for proper depth, grade, and finished cross section via screed control.
• Estimate overall quantity needed for the project and correct grade in the finished surface.
• Maintain understanding of paving industry aspects: prep work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, specs, compaction.
• Perform light mechanical adjustments and assist with mechanic repairs on assigned equipment.
• Follow safe practices and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
