Job summary

Fisher Industries is seeking a Scraper Operator to operate a CAT 627 Push Pull Scraper and support earthworks at construction sites. The role includes daily equipment maintenance and strict adherence to safety standards.

Extensive overnight travel is required across projects, with expectations to assist with plant setup and teardown. Ideal candidates have 2+ years of heavy equipment experience, strong coordination, and ability to read grade stakes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 years old.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years heavy equipment experience preferred.
  • Strong hand-eye-foot coordination.
  • Willing to work in extreme weather and high-stress environments.
  • Team player with basic welding and torch knowledge.
  • Able to read grade stakes and operate transit (preferred).
  • Extensive overnight travel required.
  • Mechanical knowledge for routine maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment efficiently to meet production goals.

  • Maintain equipment and plant housekeeping daily.
  • Lift objects weighing 75 lb regularly.
  • Use a shovel to move material when needed.
  • Follow safety guidelines per MSHA and company policy.
  • Conduct pre-shift inspections and report issues.
  • Report safety incidents to supervisor or safety team.
  • Ensure 3 points of contact on equipment at all times.
  • Coordinate with staff and follow signals and directions.
  • Adhere to safety policies, procedures, and laws.
  • Report any safety violations to supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION SCOPE

The Scraper Operator operates heavy machinery to manipulate earth and rock at a construction site. Must be able to operate a CAT 627 Push Pull Scraper according to project specifications. The individual will be responsible for servicing and maintaining equipment daily.

Position requires extensive overnight travel.

PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Operate equipment efficiently to maintain production goals
  • Assist with setup and tear down of plants
  • Perform general maintenance, repair, and service equipment as required or directed by supervisor
  • General housekeeping of equipment and plant daily or as directed by supervisor
  • Must be able to lift objects weighing 75 lb. on a regular basis
  • The use of a shovel to move material will be necessary
  • Perform all duties within safety guidelines set up by M.S.H.A. and company policy
  • Perform pre-shift inspections on equipment prior to startup
  • Report any incident to the Supervisor or safety team
  • Clean and maintain equipment -Perform routine inspection of assigned equipment and report any needed repair to the supervisor
  • Always maintain 3 points of contact on all pieces of equipment
  • Respond to signals and directions by other staff members and work in coordination with them
  • Operate the equipment in adherence to safety policies, procedures, job site and/or traffic laws
  • Report any safety violation to the Supervisor
  • Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years' operating a diverse range of heavy equipment preferred
  • Excellent hand, eye and foot coordination
  • Comfort working in a high-stress environment with extreme weather fluctuations
  • Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful
  • Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures
  • Able to operate equipment efficiently to maintain project specifications
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Mechanical knowledge of equipment and being able to perform routine maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of welding and using a cutting torch
  • Ability to read grade stakes and operate transit preferred
  • Position requires extensive overnight travel
