Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred; 3–5 years in a similar role or scrap industry preferred.
• Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with customers and other employees.
• Mathematical and problem solving skills, basic negotiation, attention to detail, and basic typing skills.

Responsibilities

• Weigh and grade incoming scrap loads and operate in-bound and out-bound scales.
• Direct customers to unloading areas and facilitate payment for in-bound material.
• Communicate pricing of materials with production crews and customers.
• Complete DMV forms for cars entering yard within required time frame.
• Test scales for accuracy and report equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
