Job summary

Radius Recycling is seeking a Scale Operator to weigh and grade incoming loads, communicate pricing, and ensure all activities meet safety and environmental standards.

You will operate both inbound and outbound scales, determine weights, direct customers to unloading areas, and coordinate with office staff to document purchases while upholding ISRI specifications and delivering exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in a similar role or scrap industry preferred.
• Ability to develop cooperative working relationships with customers and employees.
• Mathematical and problem-solving skills, basic typing skills.

Responsibilities

• Weigh and grade incoming loads per ISRI specifications.
• Operate inbound and outbound scales and compute ticket totals.
• Direct customers to unloading areas and coordinate with office for documentation.
• Communicate pricing of materials to production crews and customers.
• Maintain safety in accordance with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
• Keep accurate records of purchasing transactions.
• Inspect equipment and report malfunctions.
• Handle multiple issues with safety and maintenance during peak times.
