Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred; 3–5 years in a similar role or scrap industry preferred.
• Ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships with customers and other employees.
• Mathematical and problem solving skills, basic negotiation skills, attention to detail, and basic typing skills.

Responsibilities

• Weigh and grade incoming scrap loads and operate the inbound and outbound scales.
• Direct customers to unloading areas and assist with material pricing communication.
• Facilitate payment for in‑bound material and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
• Communicate scrap quality and acceptance procedures to customers and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Test scales for accuracy and report equipment malfunctions.
