Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma/GED, or 1+ years of heavy equipment operator experience.
• Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and endure outdoor work in varied weather.
• Pre-Employment background, physical, and hair drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to safety standards and PPE; maintain cleanliness of the site.
• Operate & maintain heavy equipment from manufacturers such as Caterpillar, Sennebogen and Liebherr.
• Receive hand signals or radio commands for equipment movement and operation.
• Load/unload materials using equipment like magnet or grapple from storage, docks, and trucks.
• Sort recycled materials to separate high-grade metals from non-conforming metals.
• Load baler and shredder using grapple or magnet.
• Operate and maintain mobile equipment (forklifts, skid steers, manlifts, street sweepers).
• Perform daily inspections on all equipment and basic maintenance tasks.
• Identify scrap by grade, material type, and any undesired elements.
• Position trailers/containers and manage emptying of boxes; assist with cleaning and housekeeping.
• Support mechanics and interact with customers/drivers as needed.
