Job summary

SA Recycling is seeking a Laborer to join its scrap metal yard. Responsibilities include unloading pallets and boxes, material handling and sorting, and maintaining a clean, safe work area.

Must pass medical and background checks; preferred candidates have a high school diploma or GED. Bi-lingual English/Spanish is a plus. Opportunity to learn metal sorting and equipment maintenance in a safety‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• Grandfathered employees from before April 2014 are considered qualified.
• Must pass a medical physical and drug test.
• Must pass a background check.
• Preferred – high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable.
• Bi-lingual English/Spanish language skills a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively; understand directions; use basic math as required.
• Willingness to learn how to sort metal, identify colors/shapes/weights; maintain equipment; use PPE correctly.

Responsibilities

• Unloading pallets, boxes, and bundles.
• Material handling and sorting; pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and filling up hoppers and conveyors.
• Unpacking boxes and separating packaging materials.
• Direct traffic of yard vehicles.
• Light facility maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
• Disposal of various waste materials and ensuring cleanliness at end of shift.
