Job summary

Cerative Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT), a subsidiary of Cleveland-Cliffs, has an immediate opportunity for a General Laborer at our Detroit, MI site. The role centers on processing scrap metals, loading/unloading materials, and operating mobile equipment with a strong emphasis on safety.

Responsibilities include sorting metals, maintaining equipment, and assisting with general plant tasks while interacting with customers and drivers.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Able to read, write and perform basic math.
• Experience operating mobile equipment preferred.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Willingness to work in dusty, dirty, extreme weather environments.
• Pre-Employment background, physical, and hair drug screen required.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload materials from storage, production areas, docks or vehicles.
• Sort recycled materials and metals to separate high-grade metals.
• Operate and maintain forklifts, skid steers, street sweeper, or water trucks.
• Perform tasks using hand tools and power tools as needed.
• Identify scrap and determine grade, type, and any contaminants.
• Assist mechanics with equipment maintenance.
• Interact with customers or drivers to direct or assist them.
• Perform other general laborer tasks as required.
