Job summary

International Automotive Components is seeking a dedicated Material Handler for segregation, compaction, and handling of scrap in an industrial setting. The role requires standing 8–12 hours per day, lifting up to 50 lbs with assistance, and working six days a week in Texas.

You will operate forklifts and compactors, maintain a clean 5S workplace, and coordinate with the Scrap Coordinator to ensure efficient, safe operations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 6 months in material handling in a manufacturing environment or industrial recycling.
  • Ability to work extra hours or shifts based on customer production requirements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Compact cardboard and plastic as required.
  • Segregate parts and runners according to resin type.
  • Regrind material based on resin classification.
  • Remove clips or non-recyclable components from materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area following 5S methodology.
  • Perform periodic cleaning of the grinder.
  • Operate forklift and pallet jack as needed to move materials.
  • Organize materials inside trailer boxes.
  • Audit scrap bins to validate information according to scrap records.
  • Follow instructions from the Scrap Coordinator.
  • Provide general support for area needs.

Job description

Objective

To carry out segregation, compaction, and handling of scrap and recyclable materials (cardboard, plastic, etc.) while ensuring compliance with safety standards and maintaining a clean and organized work area, contributing to the efficiency of the recycling process.

Job Requirements
  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred Experience: 6 months in material handling in a manufacturing environment or industrial recycling.
  • Ability to work extra hours or shifts based on customer production requirements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Cross-training and job rotation are vital to our operations and are required of all team members.
  • Must be available to work 6 days a week.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
  • Forklift operation.
  • Basic use of compactors / balers.
  • LOTO
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Working Conditions
  • Environment:
  • Industrial setting with moderate exposure to noise and dust. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
  • Physical Demands:
  • This is primarily a standing position, requiring periods of 8-12 hours per day of standing and physical activity throughout the shift.
  • Able to lift up to 15lbs on a frequent basis, and up to 50lbs with assistance.
