Qualifications

  • Active New York State Sleep Technologist License.
  • Current RPSGT Credential.
  • Experience independently scoring sleep studies.
  • Experience performing overnight PSG studies.
  • Knowledge of AASM scoring standards and sleep laboratory procedures.
  • Current CPR/BCLS Certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Strong patient assessment and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently during overnight shifts.
  • Ability to travel between Catholic Health Sleep Center locations throughout Long Island.
  • Must be available for overnight on-call coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Score and interpret sleep studies including Home Sleep Tests, PSG, Split-Night, PAP titration, MSLT, MWT.
  • Evaluate study quality and troubleshoot data irregularities.
  • Assist physicians with report editing and EMR documentation.
  • Support Home Sleep Testing patients through follow-up communication.
  • Train physicians, client staff, and team members.
  • Maintain sleep lab equipment and inventory.
  • Assist with quality assurance initiatives.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
  • Provide overnight laboratory coverage as required.

Registered Sleep Technologist (RPSGT) – Daytime Scoring & On-Call Night Coverage

Pivotal Health is seeking a highly skilled New York Licensed Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) to support multiple Catholic Health Sleep Center locations throughout Long Island.

This position combines daytime sleep study scoring, clinical support, inventory management, patient care, and MSLT testing with a required on-call overnight sleep technologist role covering sleep laboratories as needed.

The ideal candidate is an experienced sleep professional who is comfortable working independently, scoring studies, interacting with physicians and patients, and providing overnight sleep lab coverage when called upon.

Availability for on-call overnight coverage is required and is a critical component of this position. Additional compensation is provided for overnight assignments.

  • Score and interpret sleep studies including:
    • Home Sleep Tests (HST)
    • Polysomnography (PSG)
    • Split-Night Studies
    • PAP Titration Studies
    • MSLT
    • MWT
  • Evaluate study quality and troubleshoot data irregularities
  • Assist physicians with report editing and EMR documentation
  • Support Home Sleep Testing patients through follow-up communication
  • Train physicians, client staff, and team members
  • Maintain sleep lab equipment and inventory
  • Assist with quality assurance initiatives
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality

When providing overnight laboratory coverage, the Sleep Technologist will:

Patient Assessment & Preparation
  • Gather and analyze patient medical, social, and clinical information
  • Review physician orders and testing protocols
  • Explain testing procedures before, during, and after the study
  • Apply electrodes and sensors according to AASM standards
  • Perform PAP mask fitting and patient education
  • Prepare, calibrate, and troubleshoot sleep monitoring equipment
  • Verify proper operation of audio and video monitoring systems
Sleep Study Monitoring
  • Conduct overnight polysomnographic recordings
  • Monitor and maintain signal quality throughout the study
  • Implement physician-directed protocols including PAP titration, oxygen titration, MSLT, MWT, and parasomnia studies
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to patient care and safety concerns
  • Document sleep stages, respiratory events, position changes, oxygen saturation levels, cardiac events, and therapeutic interventions throughout the study
Post-Study Responsibilities
  • Complete "lights on" procedures
  • Verify integrity and quality of collected data
  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation
  • Prepare records for physician interpretation
  • Provide continuity of patient care during shift handoffs
Qualifications
Required
  • Active New York State Sleep Technologist License
  • Current RPSGT Credential
  • Experience independently scoring sleep studies
  • Experience performing overnight PSG studies
  • Knowledge of AASM scoring standards and sleep laboratory procedures
